IGNOU MBA project guidelines to be followed by students

The Indira Gandhi National Open University, known as IGNOU, is one of the premier distance learning institutes in India. It provides avenues for various students and professionals to append their scholarly profile with a management degree through its separate School of Management Studies. One of the essential courses in the plethora of courses available with this school is the Project Course (MS-100). The primary intention of this course is that the students should develop the ability to apply multi-disciplinary concepts, tools, and techniques to resolve organizational problems.
Students can opt for different types of projects depending on their curriculum and ability: these include (a) comprehensive case study, (b) inter-organizational study, and (c) field (empirical) study. It should be noted that students of MBA (course: banking and finance) are required to do their project work preferably in the banking/financial sector. The student is required for formulate a proposal in consultation with their supervisor and submit it for vetting by the coordinator (projects) for finalization. The student is then required to find an eligible project supervisor that has to be confirmed by the coordinator. The project proposal is then sent to the coordinator for approval; the coordinator communicates this authorization in writing to the student within eight weeks.

The project report has to meet the following requirements:

The length of the report: 50 to 60 double-spaced typed pages not exceeding 18,000 words. Variation allowed: ±10%
Each report should explain the research method and future research direction
It should also contain the project proposal and certificate of originality (jointly signed by the student and the supervisor)
The typed report is to be submitted to the Registrar (SR & ED), IGNOU, following which a P.R. number is allotted to the report and communicated to the student.
The project report can be submitted any time of the year. A student may be asked to appear for a viva-voice, if required, by the evaluator.

The following points are worthwhile while submitting the project report.
Send only one copy, and retain one copy with the student.
“MS-100” should be prominently written on the envelope addressed to the coordinator.
The report should be of A-4 size, double-spaced, and a bound volume.
The bio-data of the supervisor should also be included in the submitted project report.

The above points might facilitate IGNOU students in drafting and submitting the comprehensive project report.
